A 100-mile medical trip in October has a $23.50 rate-based amount; the same miles in March have a $20.50 amount. Neither figure is automatically a deduction, because eligibility and Schedule A limits still matter.
For 2026, medical and eligible moving rates are 20.5¢ from January through June and 23.5¢ from July through December. The charitable-service rate is 14¢ all year. Moving deductions have narrow eligibility rules; check current IRS guidance.
The IRS rate table gives the cents-per-mile amounts. It does not decide whether a particular drive is deductible. Write down why the drive happened before relying on any calculation.
How this worksheet works
The worksheet applies the correct cents-per-mile rate to each period. Medical travel is subject to the Schedule A medical-expense threshold, generally the amount above 7.5% of adjusted gross income. Charitable driving also has documentation and itemizing rules.
Worked example
100 medical miles in March
$20.50 rate-based amount
100 medical miles in October
$23.50 rate-based amount
Keep the records behind the number
Keep the date, destination and purpose, plus any parking and toll receipts where applicable. For medical travel, record which eligible person received care without sharing sensitive details in a public worksheet.
72.5 cents per business mile for January 1 through June 30, 2026; 76 cents for July 1 through December 31, 2026.
Is this a tax deduction or cash back?
A deduction generally reduces taxable income. The amount shown here is not a refund or guaranteed tax savings.

Milevaro records trips you start with one tap and exports CSV or PDF reports. Every feature is free for 14 days; then $39.99/year or $3.99/month. Existing trips remain viewable and CSV export stays free if you do not subscribe.
Milevaro reports are records of trips logged by the user. They are not IRS-certified and do not guarantee a tax deduction. A deduction lowers taxable income; it is not direct cash back. The estimated deduction is business miles multiplied by a user-set rate and is an estimate, not tax advice. Consult a qualified tax professional.
